April 18, 2010

Our major focus was on the "wrecking ball mentality" that seems to be dividing the nation, and what we here in PDX could do about it. Sheree deftly led the discussion, and a meditation that focused on gratitude for being here, and being healthy. When she later forwarded information by Russell Bishop (senior Editor-at-Large, Huffington Post), I decided to use a few words from his blog that would be a capper:

"When did 'there but for the grace of God go I?' get replaced with 'It sucks to be you!'

"We need a more positive approach to the split that is occurring in our country. If we don't choose to do something, we become a nation of intolerance, not just a lot of fighting intolerant people."

Again, what are we willing to do to become that change????

During the meeting, Dale Jamgaard suggested we learn more on that subject from HeartMath. He volunteered to present on the subject soon. With our members focusing on opening our hearts, we can spread more tolerance.

Also, Phyllis Richardson from our new Steering Committee, offered copies of a PDX IONS group Survey. Our discussion on it was lively, and it will be sent out to you all soon. It surveys your ideas on how we can improve our group. Watch for it.

That's all, folks!
