The Real Wealth of Portland project and Community Way. We'll be hosting two guests, Alan Rosenblith and Barbara Gerke, who bring information about some wonderful transformational work going on in Portland.
Guests Barbara Gerke and Judy Bennett talked with us about the Real Wealth of Portland project, which is based on the ideas of Riane Eisler and colleagues. The project locally is dedicated to exploring, identifying and working in partnership to support the crucial economic shift that must be recognized and implemented if we are to create an economic system that also values caring for humans and the earth. We start by making this invisible economy visible and partnering with people of shared values to envision and create a truly human economy: one that fosters social and economic justice and peace for all.
Alan Rosenblith and Barbara also brought information to us about Community Way. Community Way is a business loyalty program that connects local businesses, charitable organizations (COs), and individuals in a mutually beneficial three-way partnership. Community Way allows local businesses to capture the loyalty of people who support COs without any cash costs, provides COs with a powerful fundraising tool, and makes it easy for citizens to support COs without losing any of their buying power. Loyalty programs have a long history of allowing businesses to use their unused capacity to capture the loyalty of new customers. Community Way uses this same principle, and puts it in the service of COs.
