Introduction to Energy Medicine
Energy Medicine and Energy Healing, by Harriet Cooke is a short essay that elaborates on energy medicine and energetic healing. The essay reflects the synthesis of Dr. Cooke’s studies and experiences in this field.
Jan 6th an introduction to energy medicine was presented by Harriet Cooke, MD and Ursula Gilkeson. The presentation began with a meditation, terms and definitions of energy medicine, then an overview of principles of energy medicine. Case presentations were then offered to illustrate different healing potentials that can be activated through energy medicine. The cases covered acute and chronic pain syndromes, the capacity of emotional trauma to elicit severe pain and be cleared through energy medicine, the transpersonal experience of pain related to trauma, & the use of energetic healing to rapidly reduce blood pressure.
Potentially harmful effects to the practitioner were also discussed through case experiences, exemplifying the need for proper grounding techniques, energetic hygiene, and the importance of skillful, tempered practice.
It was also pointed out that the healing does not come from the practitioner, but from the patient, and that the practitioner is simply a facilitator to the patient’s own healing ability.
