Family & Systemic Constellations

Today we welcomed Jane Peterson and her husband Don Chitwood. Jane has been training facilitators and leading family/systemic constellations in the Portland area for 10 years. She explained the process of a constellation as one where people focus on their body sense ("felt sense") to determine answers to their everyday problems. Moving people around in "the field" (that area in the middle of the circle where the constellation takes place) gives the seeker information that was unknown before. It accesses relationships gleaned from information other than talking. Jane mentioned the originator of Family/Systemic Constellations, Bert Hellinger, whose world-wide travels studying families led him to recognize how prevalent family entanglements are (an entangled person has unconsciously taken over the fate of an earlier member of the family and lives it out). Based on this idea he initiated "The Three Orders of Love."

IONS members and guests did an exercise in dyads where one person was an "explorer" to a second person's "other." Reports afterward indicated that participants were able to see their problems in a clearer light, or even solve them. In the last few minutes, Jane did a short constellation on one person's issue with Money. It was quite touching, and provided that person a different perspective.

Mary (Lansing), along with Lynn Reer, Ph.D. will facilitate a day of Family/Systemic Constellations in SW Portland on Saturday, February 23rd. 9:30 - 4:00. Please call Mary to register. (503.635.3961)
