Pot Luck
Dear friends of IONS,
I think I can speak for all of you who attended our get together last Sunday that it was a warm, enthusiastic event. The food was over-the-top plentiful and delicious. And maybe it was about having been snow-bound, but our connection gave each of us a glow the dreary gray skies couldn't even dampen.
All of that didn't leave much time for IONS business, but we managed to come up with a list of interests we'd like to see materialize into future meetings. Here's that list. I invite those of you who couldn't make it to write me and add your input.
TOPICS/PEOPLE FOR 2009 MEETINGS
Psych K: Teresa Bright can put together a presentation on this transforming method of cultivating change.
The book 2012: THE RETURN OF Quetzalcoatl by Daniel Pinchbeck:Judy Cooper is reading this and suggested its content for a discussion. The content? Return of a Mayan god, a focus on the work we need to do now, before 2012 to catalyze a shift in global culture.
Obama, our new president-elect: Sheree Stewart likes the idea of our discussing a subject close to our IONS hearts that Obama will be dealing with in this 44th presidency.
This brought up Barbara Gehrke's love, the "Real Wealth of Portland": A presentation about the financial meltdown and how we can reframe our fear about money. (Mary mentioned Aaron Russo's DVD on Freedom to Fascism (Google that for previews), the film about how Americans have been hoodwinked into believing that there is a law that states we must pay income tax.)
Rediscovering Self and Aligning Your Consciousness with What You Want is the thrust behind "Avatar." A couple people had interest here; I'm not recalling who offered to lead a workshop in this. Help?
Economic Transformation was an idea of David Drom's. Perhaps David would like to present on this?
Lynn Hingson offered the name of Shariff Abdullah, a Portland presenter who did a workshop on our Consciousness Cruise. She suggested he might speak on "Finding The Shadow" Lynn also mentioned her interest in "conversation cafes" a model where "big questions, deep issues" are spoken of between people who have just met.
Mary brought up Gregory Kramer's name: He's written INSIGHT DIALOGUE, is a Buddhist monk who presents all over the world. A Portland native. www.mettafoundation.org
Another subject that was presented was "Grounding Consciousness in the Body," "elevating human consciousness to a new plane of psychic harmony."
My hasty notes did not include everything, but you get the gist, I'm sure. We had three people who would like to meet to put these ideas into action. I didn't write down names, I recall two of the people. Will you get back to me to verify, please?
One last request. Andrea has written that she can no longer be our webmaster. This is a most important job, since the product -- our beautiful site that she created -- is what attracts people to our meetings. I'm hoping my putting the need out there will result in just the right person wanting to take it on. So I'm doing some "Distant Recruiting" -- silently, of course. Please you join me in this effort if such an action appeals to you.
